December 14, 2008

I can't believe that December is half over. Shopping, shopping, shopping is all I've done and now I'm thru. I got all the packages sent off, Christmas cards addressed (they'll be in the mail tomorrow), visiting teaching complete with gifts to them, pumpkin bread made for gifts for Ralph's work, calendars purchased and distributed for my work, tree up, decorations in place and only 11 days until Christmas.

I volunteered to take Tuesday and Thursday's off at work so someone else could keep their job. It has helped me have time for everything. All day Tuesday I helped my friend Gloria. I got her signed up for unemployment, took her shopping at DI for clothes for her son and took her for a job interview. Thursday I took her to the post office to mail her package to Nigeria, but it was too big. I helped her get her phone turned off with just Internet service and tried to get her to come to Enrichment night with me, but she wouldn't.

Thursday I got paid to give plasma. It was my first time so it took a long time. Now I'm going to try and donate every Tuesday and Thursday. Since I went to Cancun I can't give blood for free to the blood bank, so I might as well sell the plasma.

I wrapped my gifts for Ralph this morning. Now I need to get the neighborhood gifts ready. They're boxes of pancake mix. Anyone know any poems for pancakes?

We went to the preview night for gymnastics Friday. I've been to very few gymnastics meets without grandchildren needing attention. I saw the whole thing. Ralph took a short nap.

Last Sunday we went to the Stake center for the church devotional. All of the people - 8 - were from our ward. No one else was there.

Last week we attended the Forgotten Carols program with Susan's family on Monday, I attended a night with Elaine Dalton on Wednesday, we had our ward Christmas party on Friday and we went to the BYU International Folk dancers program on Saturday. It was a busy week, but now we can just sit and eat chocolates (after we go to the gym).

Wow...busy times even without family there. The tree looks nice, as do both of you.
