April 4, 2009

Last week was a crazy week.

March 31, 2009 a viewing was held for Ernst Ferdinand Baer. These are the immediate family that came to the viewing. Jeff, Heidi, Sherry Ann, Betty Ann, Ralph, Michelle, Susan & Kristofer.

The viewing was held for 1 1/2 hours with many neighbors of ours and neighbors of Ernst that came to express their love for us. After the viewing a family prayer by Ralph was given and Sherry Ann helped place the Temple cap on Grandpa's head, then the casket was closed.

Our children gave us a beautiful, editable bouquet. We have enjoyed it for days. Thanks!
Wednesday, April 1, we held a graveside service at 10:30 a.m. It snowed all morning, then stopped 30 minutes before the service. A few friends and Michelle's family members came to the service. Jeff gave the dedicatory prayer and expressed the joy we have in the plan of salvation and exhaltation. Mirjam's brother, Pete and his wife, daughter and granddaughter came to our house for a luncheon. Sherry Ann and her two youngest, Jeff and us had an enjoyable time finding out things we didn't know about Ralph's parents.
When Omi left Germany for Utah she had purchased a ticket for Mirjam to come and was heartbroken when she stayed in Germany with Ernst. She got the money together for Ernst & Mirjam, Ralph & Heidi to come a couple of years later.

Ralph's co-workers have been so supportive of Ralph during the last two years. They came and supported him at the viewing and graveside service. Otto Bock sent this beautiful bouquet.
Susan went home after the viewing. Sherry Ann left for St. George Wednesday after the service. Thanks for the snow stopping. Jeff left for home Thursday early afternoon. His first flight was to Boise, then Denver, then Milwaukee. Because his first flight was late he missed his next flight. After much discussion with the airlines, he ended up back in Salt Lake. We welcomed him with loving arms and went to an RSL soccer game. It was great, RSL won 4-1. We sat in the cheap seats up high under the awning. When it rained, we kept dry.
At about noon on the 2nd Ralph learned that Heidi had gone to the hospital in an ambulance the night of the 1st. They thought she had pneumonia. We went to visit her after the soccer game and found out she had a heart attack. Jeff & Ralph gave her a priesthood blessing. We have been to visit her today, she is still sedated but her heart is pumping by itself.

Hope you don't have another week like that any time soon! At least you got work off, right?
